Barbara Barrington Jones Makes A Big Donation to Help Single Mothers

For two years the WBN has called Barbara Barrington Jones an angel for her support and continued sponsorship of our organization.  Her support through the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation continues to grow and touch the lives of many Utah women.   Today the Daily Herald reported Ms. Barrington Jones’ donation of $1 million for a new day care facility at Utah Valley University.

The facility will accept up to 500 children each semester so that their mothers can continue their education.  This donation benefits hundreds of single mothers and provides them the opportunity to better support their families.  According to the Daily Herald article, Ms. Barrington Jones wanted to help because she personally knew the struggles single mothers face and as such, she was willing to sell her home to provide the donation.

In addition to supporting the WBN and UVU, the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation holds retreats for teenage girls and women each year.  The retreats help to rebuild women’s self-esteem and rejuvenate attendees.

Last year the WBN held the first Utah Valley Women’s Business Conference in large part because of the generous donations from Ms. Barrington Jones and her foundation. With her continued support we are once again able to hold the conference.

Utah Valley is lucky to have someone like Ms. Barrington Jones in our community.
