November WBN Luncheon: Budget Sensitive Office Celebrations

November 2011 luncheonWe had a great turnout for our November luncheon at Scera Center for the Arts.  Our presenter was Lisa Swearingen, owner of Be My Guest Wedding and Event Planning with tips on keeping costs down for fundraisers and office parties. A little creative thinking can go a long way to help your organization pull off an event without busting your budget.

Location – keep costs down by staying at the office or using the CEO’s house (assuming it’s roomy and already decorated)
Food – recruit talented employees to make their specialty dishes, go potluck, or even have the upper management do the cooking
Entertainment – don’t overlook the talent of your own employees
Activities – show the lighter side of your CEO with some silly games or try a white elephant gift exchange

Lisa SwearingenSome other great ideas for budget sensitive office celebrations can be found online:  How to Plan an Office Party on a Budget, Tips for Having an Office Party with a Low Budget.

The WBN thanks our 2011 Angel Sponsor, the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation, and our luncheon sponsors – Corporate Alliance and Paragon Wealth Management!

Save the Date for the December 8 11:30AM-1:30PM Holiday Luncheon and Silent Auction Scholarship Fundraiser at the Garden Room at Thanksgiving Point.  We’re seeking a few more table sponsors and silent auction donors – if you’re interested, email wbn@thechamber.org.
