The Power of Persistence – October Luncheon Followup

Andrea WarnerOctober’s  WBN luncheon was held on October 14th at Ruby River in Provo.  Because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we were pleased to have Andrea Warner, a local businesswoman and breast cancer survivor who volunteers for the American Cancer Society, speak to us.

Andrea’s topic was The Power of Persistence:  From Cancer Diagnosis to Walking in Gratitude. One of her mottoes is “Don’t hog your journey” because everyone has something they can share with others.  That is why she shares her story with others, she says, because “it is important for me to know I’ve had this experience and move on.”  Andrea emphasized the power of words.  Are you a victim or a thriver?  The words give you a different feeling.

When Andrea did her breast cancer walk, her team was named “Walking in Gratitude.”

She told us, “We are empowered!  It was my choice on how to go through the experience.”  Her approach to challenges is to figure out “what’s the gift in it?”  This attitude can be applied to every area of your life, not just your health.

We appreciate Hawkins Cloward and Simister and Cupcake Chic for sponsoring this event!

Mark your calendars for our November 11 luncheon.  The topic will be Fraud Prevention and we will be meeting at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.  Our Holiday Luncheon will be held at Thanksgiving Point on December 9.  This is our most popular luncheon of the year with silent auctions, gifts, and more.  It is also our biggest fundraiser for the WBN scholarship.  If your company is interested in sponsoring a table or contributing to the silent auction please contact Ali Dyer at ali@uvmag.com.
