Personal and Professional Safety – May Luncheon Follow-up

The May luncheon was held at Xango in Lehi. Sponsors were Suspended in Time and the Pregnancy Resource Center. Speaking on the topic of personal and professional safety for business women, Michael May of AKT emphasized the importance of preventing rape and sexual assault by teaching and training women not to be victims of violent crime. Mental awareness and mental preparedness are the two most important priorities to survive and to prevail against threats to one’s well being. Two-thirds of women in the 21st Century will be sexually assaulted. Does it have to be you?

May encouraged us to be aware of our surroundings and walk with confidence rather than being distracted looking for our keys, talking on the phone, etc. May demonstrated a technique for escaping an attacker’s grip and one of his former students told how the AKT training had made her more confident about handling scary situations.

Our next luncheon is on Thursday, June 10!  Watch for more details!
