The April luncheon, “Real Women Run”, featured a panel of Utah’s female political leaders including former Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Corradini, Orem City Councilwoman Mary Street, and former Utah Legislator Lorie Fowlke.
From the discussion we learned that one person can truly make a difference in policy making by learning the rules and the political process — cities are often looking for members to add to their boards. Women of the panel told their individual stories of how they became involved in politics — all while juggling busy careers, kids and households. They advised, “Do it regardless of your circumstances. If you can’t run, find a woman who is running and support her.”
On May 19th, Real Women Run will be hosting a campaign training event “Ready to Run” at the University of Utah. Find out more info and register here.
